The River Tib

The River Tib is a small hidden river which runs through the centre of Manchester. The interesting thing is that most people don’t know this river exists, as it has been ‘culverted’ (and hidden from view) underground for almost 200 years. The river starts at a spring called Coopers pit in Miles Platting and runs underneath Tib Street, across Market Street, past the old John Lewis Building, under the central library, past the Midland Hotel, and then ends at the Medlock canal on Deansgate.

Here’s a few frames taken along the route of Manchester’s hidden river.
